Basketball Game Preview: McNair Eagles vs. Bear Creek Bruins

McNair hasn't had much luck against Bear Creek recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The McNair Eagles will welcome the Bear Creek Bruins at 7:30 p.m. McNair is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, McNair beat Chavez 53-47.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear Creek). They breezed by Franklin to the tune of 89-48 on Friday. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 1333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bear Creek's win came from a few key players McNair will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matt Romano, who posted 20 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Eddie Andeola, who had 19 points.

Bear Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for McNair, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.

Things could have been worse for McNair, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-49 loss to Bear Creek when the teams last played back in January. Can McNair avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
