Softball Game Preview: Brewster Bears vs. Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors

The Brewster Bears will face off against the Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Brewster took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Okanogan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 15-13. The win was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, Almira-Coulee-Hartline made easy work of Wellpinit on Tuesday and carried off a 22-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now won five in a row.

Madison Brink was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mallory Isaak was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hannah Brummett, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Almira-Coulee-Hartline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Brewster back to even at 3-3. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Brewster took their win against Almira-Coulee-Hartline in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 13-7 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
