Basketball Game Preview: Champion Golden Flashes vs. Chaney Cowboys

The Champion Golden Flashes will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Chaney Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Champion is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Champion is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against McKinley on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Champion was dealt a 58-23 loss at the hands of McKinley. The contest marked the Golden Flashes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaney). They came out on top against Mineral Ridge by a score of 73-66 on Friday.

Chaney found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Brown, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and 13 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Alexandria Pete was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Chaney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Champion's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Chaney, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
