Softball Recap: Santa Ynez Pirates vs. Nipomo Titans
Santa Ynez dropped their record down to 3-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 16-1 to the Nipomo Titans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Titans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-0 loss back in April.
As for Nipomo, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Nipomo's part, Alyssa Van Muysen and Roxanne McLean were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Van Muysen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, McLean pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Van Muysen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Van Muysen went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while McLean got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Alie Camacho was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Quaresma, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
