Basketball Game Preview: Hope Christian Academy Lions vs. Brunswick Christian Academy Eagles

The Hope Christian Academy Lions will head out to challenge the Brunswick Christian Academy Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hope Christian Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing St Johns Christian School: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Soldiers out of the water with a 95-20 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 66-point advantage.

Hope Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Caden Hartzog, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds, and Grant Timonere, who went 10-for-18 to rack up 23 points and three steals. Those ten boards gave Hartzog a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Gaffney, who shot 60% from the field en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Brunswick Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 64-60 to Coastal HomeSchool. The Eagles have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The win made it two in a row for Hope Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Brunswick Christian Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Hope Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 44-21 defeat they got from Brunswick Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
