The Stevensville Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to take on the Hamilton Broncs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Stevensville has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Hamilton will arrive with six straight victories.
Stevensville came up short against Beaverhead County on Tuesday, falling 16-2.
Stevensville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Davids, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Hamilton faced Lockwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Broncs' pitcher stepped up to hand the LIONS a 6-0 shutout. The Broncs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Mariah Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Dawsyn Ekin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Brooke Savage was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Hamilton's record is now 14-1. As for Stevensville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Stevensville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hamilton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Stevensville might still be hurting after the 18-3 defeat they got from Hamilton in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
