Baseball Recap: Holcomb's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Prairie, Holcomb was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the South Pemiscot Bulldogs with a sharp 10-4 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Keaton Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Lewis, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Holcomb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Holcomb's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-7. As for South Pemiscot, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coming up, Holcomb will challenge Richland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Pemiscot, they will take on Caruthersville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
