Recap: Carver Yellowjackets vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Carver Yellowjackets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 51-6 loss at the hands of Mountain Heritage. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Carver couldn't push the score so high this time.
Cason Jones was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Mountain Heritage also got a significant boost from Brandon Quinn, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.
Carver bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Mountain Heritage, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Carver does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mountain Heritage will be playing at home against Starmount at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Starmount knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Mountain Heritage likes a good challenge.
