Blue Water Area recap Oct. 9, 2012

Armada moved up to 203 from 237 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Blue Water Area. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating Capac 48-18.

Croswell-Lexington extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Almont, 35-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Armada's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trevor Holston threw for 84 and one touchdown and Ryan Walden had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Ross Querro chipped in 147 yards. Douglas Phillips III helped Armada's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Holston and Nicolas Burton Mark Brandimarte's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Holston leads the league in passing with 209 yards, while Burton has rushed for 680 yards this season. Algonac's Tyler Banks leads the league in receiving yards with 185 on five catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Croswell-Lexington. As it stands, Armada is in third, while Jason VanDerMaas' team is in first.

Yale took down Imlay City 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
