Baseball Recap: Kerman Triumphs

After losing to Madera the last time they met, Kerman decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lions walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Coyotes on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Evan Esqueda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Adrian Torres was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Kerman is undefeated when Torres posts three or more RBI, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Luna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Kerman's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Madera, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-1.

Looking ahead, Kerman will take on San Joaquin Memorial in a tournament on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Madera, they will be taking part in a tournament against Davis Sr. at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
