Hampshire came out on top against Cary-Grove on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Whip-Purs put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 13-4 win. The Whip-Purs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Hampshire, bringing their record up to 18-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Cary-Grove, they dropped their record down to 7-17 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Hampshire has already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Maine West on the 10th. As for Cary-Grove, they will head out to face off against Huntley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
