Basketball Recap: Sahuaro Falls Short of Deer Valley in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sahuaro can now relate to. They took a hard 69-55 fall against the Deer Valley Skyhawks on Wednesday. The Cougars have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the defeat, Sahuaro had strong showings from Jamal Ali, who shot 50% from the field en route to 18 points, and Cisco Llamas, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 20 points and six assists. That was a full 36.4% of Sahuaro's points, marking the fourth time in a row Llamas has posted more than a third of the team's points. Dj Williams was another key player, putting up five points.

Sahuaro's loss dropped their record down to 21-4. As for Deer Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Sahuaro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-38 victory against Bradshaw Mountain on the 26th. As for Deer Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 61-59 defeat against Basha on the 21st.
