Baseball Game Preview: Mount View Mustangs vs. Waterville Panthers

Mount View is 0-5 against Waterville since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mount View fell victim to Washington Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 15-0 to the Raiders.

Meanwhile, Waterville came up short against Lawrence on Friday, falling 10-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Waterville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Felix Chapa, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Mount View now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Waterville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Mount View's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Waterville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mount View continue to outrun the ball?

Mount View couldn't quite finish off Waterville in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 and fell 4-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
