Preview: St. Rita Mustangs vs. Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan
The St. Rita Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, St. Rita faced Brother Rice in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Rita was the victim of a tough 42-21 defeat at the hands of Brother Rice.
Despite the defeat, St. Rita got a solid performance out of Jimmie Maxson iii, who picked up 174 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Maxson iii was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards.
Meanwhile, Chicago Mt. Carmel unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell just short of Loyola Academy by a score of 23-21.
St. Rita has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
St. Rita took a serious blow against Chicago Mt. Carmel in their previous matchup back in September, falling 38-7. Can St. Rita avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
