Softball Recap: Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers vs. Hancock County Hornets

Breckinridge County had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-20 to make it five. They lost 13-3 to the Hancock County Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-4 defeat two weeks ago.

Mallory Lucas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Hancock County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Hancock County's side, Ryleigh French made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. French has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Hancock County got a big performance out of Aubree Mosby, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
