Last Friday, Lee Academy came up short against Westside and fell 12-8.
Slade Oxner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand North Sunflower Academy a 12-0 shutout. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
Carsen Stegall made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Calhoun Academy is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Stegall was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Kaden Denton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jake Allen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Lee Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Calhoun Academy, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
