Basketball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wheatland-Grinnell waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-46 victory over the Golden Plains Bulldogs. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 49-32 victory back in February.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Mason, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. Wheatland-Grinnell is 7-2 when Mason posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Tuttle, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Wheatland-Grinnell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Golden Plains' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dylan Wark, who posted 21 points and five rebounds, and Josh Rath, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. That was a full 45.7% of Golden Plains' points, marking the fourth time in a row Wark has earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory got Wheatland-Grinnell back to even at 10-10. As for Golden Plains, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
