Recap: Woodville Eagles vs. Pollok Central Bulldogs

The Woodville Eagles were the 46-42 winner over the Pollok Central Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Woodville received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 59-42 to Pollok Central. While losing is never fun, Woodville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 979th, while Pollok Central is ranked 423rd).

Jake Matthews was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds for Pollok Central. Matthews has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Graham, who scored 14 points.

Woodville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Pollok Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Woodville will head out on the road to square off against Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Huntington is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Pollok Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pineywoods Community Academy at 7:00 p.m.
