League recap: Calfee throws longest pass in league this season for Dalton

Cole Calfee and Brandon Dale provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Gilmer. The connection went for 57 yards, the longest such play in AAAA Region 7B this season.

Ridgeland was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Panthers defeated Cedartown 42-21 earlier in the week.

Dalton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Calfee threw for 74 and one touchdown and Dale had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Kelvis Rhodes chipped in 157 yards. Brandon Painter helped Dalton's passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.

Dalton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Catamounts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Calfee has thrown for 393 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Dale has 15 catches for 262 yards. Rhodes leads the league in rushing with 544 yards.

Ridgeland moved up to 48 from 74 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAA Region 7B. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating the Bulldogs 42-21.
