Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Celebration

Gateway hasn't had much luck against Celebration recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Gateway Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Celebration Storm at 7:00 p.m. Gateway is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Gateway's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Harmony as Gateway made off with a 5-0 victory. It was an even better day for Adrian Rodriguez as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Celebration who was credited with the win on Tuesday. Celebration got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Tohopekaliga's four. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Tigers are ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gateway's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six contests. As for Celebration, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-1 record this season.
