Basketball Recap: Richland County Tigers vs. Meridian Bobcats

After flying high against Christopher on Friday, Richland County came back down to earth. The Richland County Tigers took a hard 61-45 fall against the Meridian Bobcats on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Richland County lost, don't look at Rex Hallam. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arjay Keller, who posted nine points.

AJ Flenoid continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Meridian, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. Flenoid's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Monan, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Richland County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Meridian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Richland County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-51 loss against Jersey on the 28th. As for Meridian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-49 defeat against Pinckneyville on the 28th.
