Football Game Preview: Socorro Bulldogs vs. Eastlake Falcons

Socorro hasn't had much luck against Eastlake recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Socorro has given up an average of 26.6 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Socorro is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points back in September, they were much more limited against Eastwood last Thursday. They were dealt a 49-13 defeat at the hands of the Troopers. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite their loss, Socorro saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nevin Vale, who picked up 94 receiving yards and one score, was perhaps the best of all. Adrian Hunt handled things on the ground, rushing for 100 yards.

Meanwhile, Eastlake's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost to Eastwood on the road by a 42-28 margin. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Troopers are ranked 157th).

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Julian Williams and Kingston Jeffries. Jeffries had a great game and threw for 282 yards and four TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes. Meanwhile, Williams did his best for the losing side, throwing for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 50 yards and one score.

Eastlake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Socorro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Socorro took a serious blow against Eastlake in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 42-7. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Luke Lomeli (who threw for 320 yards and four TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
