The Notre Dame Prep Saints will head out to face off against the Campo Verde Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Notre Dame Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Gilbert 62-34. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
It was another big night for Decker Haskins-Smith, who rushed for 137 yards and four TDs on only 11 carries, and also caught one touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended two passes. Gunnar Perry was another key player, rushing for 98 yards and one score.
Notre Dame Prep didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Gilbert to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Haskins-Smith and Landon Stych, who each logged two passes deflected. Notre Dame Prep hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.48 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Notre Dame Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece. Peyton Patrassi is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Campo Verde prevailed. They put the hurt on Goldwater with a sharp 35-12 victory on Friday. The Coyotes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 23 points or more this season.
Notre Dame Prep better keep an eye on Jonah Lubno. He was instrumental in Campo Verde's win, rushing for 77 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Lubno got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 70 yards.
The win got Notre Dame Prep back to even at 2-2. As for Campo Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Notre Dame Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Campo Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Notre Dame Prep strolled past Campo Verde in their previous meeting back in October of 2021 by a score of 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
