Softball Recap: Dublin Coffman Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dublin Coffman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Hilliard Davidson Wildcats 8-7. The Rocks haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

DeLaney Makuh made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kyla Ruiz Beech was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Samantha Phipps was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dublin Coffman's record now sits at 10-7. As for Hilliard Davidson, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dublin Coffman will square off against Grove City at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hilliard Davidson, they will challenge Hilliard Darby at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
