Recap: Frankton Eagles vs. Connersville Spartans
The Frankton Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 69-59 victory over Connersville. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Frankton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Sperry out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Sperry has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaya Collins, who scored 23 points.
Connersville's loss came despite strong showings from Serenity Pennington and Hailey Sembach. Pennington scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals, while Sembach dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sembach scored 15 or more points.
Frankton pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Connersville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
Frankton will be playing at home against Anderson Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Frankton is ranked 122nd). As for Connersville, they will head out on the road to face off against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
