Softball Recap: Trinity Christian Takes a Loss

Trinity Christian dropped down to 4-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Garrett Memorial Christian Saints by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Saints this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-3 loss back in March.

Willa Young made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Gordon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Garrett Memorial Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Garrett Memorial Christian's side, Gracie Bullock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. Bullock was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kat Morris, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Heaven Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Trinity Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Victory Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Garrett Memorial Christian will square off against rival Arkansas Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
