Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southland, Mabel-Canton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander Superlarks by a score of 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Superlarks: they've now won three in a row.

Tylar Wenthold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Torgerson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kailey Ingvalson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Mabel-Canton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander, they moved to 7-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-0 win against Fillmore Central/Lanesboro on the 23rd. Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander has also already played their next match (against Houston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
