Football Recap: Gibbon Comes Up Short

Gibbon's last matchup with Wood River could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Buffaloes took a blow against the Eagles, falling 64-6. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Braxten Leonard threw for 47 yards on six of 16 attempts. Riley Bergstrom was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and one TD.

Madden Brabec was his usual excellent self, throwing for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 47 yards and one score for Wood River.

Gibbon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Wood River, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gibbon will square off against rival Fillmore Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wood River is set to face off against their familiar foe Superior at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
