Moffat County hasn't had much luck against Aspen recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 2:00 p.m.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Moffat County and Gunnison have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Cowboys.
The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Aspen got the win against Basalt on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The Skiers haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Aspen walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-8, 25-19.
Aspen's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Moffat County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Moffat County has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Aspen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
