Basketball Game Preview: Rock Springs TIGERS vs. Riverton Wolverines

The Rock Springs TIGERS will face off against the Riverton Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rock Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Riverton likes a good challenge.

Rock Springs is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since February 23, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Evanston by a score of 61-59.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Riverton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-47 victory over Green River on Thursday.

Riverton's win came from a few key players Rock Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Malachi Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four). Ayden Kelley was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Rock Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.

Rock Springs barely slipped by Riverton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 52-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Riverton's Parker Paxton, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 33 points.
