Softball Recap: Centennial Chargers vs. Rantoul Eagles
Centennial barely beat Rantoul the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-3 win on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Zoe Goodreau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Maiyah Flemons was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Brylie Klaudt, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Centennial moved to 6-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Rantoul, their record is now 9-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will face off against Urbana at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.89 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rantoul, they will challenge Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
