Basketball Recap: South Bend Career Academy Takes a Loss

If South Bend Career Academy was feeling good fresh off their 48-18 takedown of 21st Century Charter last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers had to suffer through a 56-29 loss at the hands of the Clinton Christian Couriers. The Trailblazers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Couriers from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

South Bend Career Academy lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alana Wright, who posted 13 points. Zeniya Miller was another key player, putting up ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kalli Bontrager, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Saghan Schlabach, who had 17 points and three steals.

South Bend Career Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Clinton Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3.

South Bend Career Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-15 loss against Granger Christian on the 12th. As for Clinton Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 39-36 win against Trinity Greenlawn on the 12th.
