Baseball Recap: Boyd-Buchanan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Boyd-Buchanan entered their tilt with Walker Valley on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 2-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Buccaneers: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in March, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Max Bates looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Boyd-Buchanan is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Xavier Embry was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Hudson Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Boyd-Buchanan's win bumped their record up to 7-10-1. As for Walker Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.

Boyd-Buchanan will be playing in front of their home fans against McMinn County at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Walker Valley, they will square off against Bradley Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
