Softball Game Preview: Lima Christian Saints vs. Geneseo Blue Devils

Lima Christian is 0-3 against Geneseo since April of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Saints will venture away from home to square off against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Lima Christian has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lima Christian is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against Friendship, falling 17-5.

Meanwhile, Geneseo waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Golden Knights 12-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Devils considering their one-run performance the game before.

Adelyn McDonald made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Rossborough, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Conklin, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Geneseo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Geneseo's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Lima Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Lima Christian might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Geneseo in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
