Football Recap: Isabella Romero Leads Bartram Trail's Defense on Friday

Bartram Trail lost against Spruce Creek back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bartram Trail Bears took a 19-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spruce Creek Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Hawks are ranked 29th).

Although Bartram Trail took the loss, they still got scores from Isabella Romero and Annie Henderson.

Bartram Trail wouldn't let Spruce Creek keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force six fumbles. Romero and Riley Abelon were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece.

Bartram Trail has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. Spruce Creek pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Bartram Trail will head out to challenge St. Augustine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spruce Creek, they are taking a road trip to take on Flagler Palm Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flagler Palm Coast's defense has only allowed seven points per game this season, so Spruce Creek's offense will have their work cut out for them.
