Baseball Recap: Elida Comes Up Short

Elida came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 21-9 to the Melrose Buffaloes. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 13-12 to the Buffaloes when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bodey Fraze stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. TJ Kennedy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Elida has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Melrose, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

Melrose has already played their next matchup, a 10-9 defeat against Gateway Christian on the 17th. Hopefully Elida paid attention to the Buffaloes' contest: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Buffaloes at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
