Soccer Game Preview: Elkhorn South vs. Papillion-LaVista

The Elkhorn South Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Elkhorn South is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Elkhorn South had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt North Platte on Saturday. The Storm's defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Elkhorn South, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit North Platte with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alaina Brown (2), Sophia Key, and Gabby Wagenfuhr.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Papillion-LaVista sidestepped Papillion-LaVista South for a 1-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Papillion-LaVista in their matchups with Papillion-LaVista South: they've now won seven in a row.

Elkhorn South pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Papillion-LaVista, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Elkhorn South beat Papillion-LaVista by a goal in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 1-0. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
