Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Seattle Prep Panthers

The Roosevelt Roughriders will challenge the Seattle Prep Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Roosevelt will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Garfield, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Roosevelt walked away with a 61-49 victory over Garfield on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Roughriders were the better team in the second half.

Jasmine Hall was her usual excellent self, going 9-for-11 to rack up 24 points and three steals. What's more, she also posted a 82% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Clara Swanson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Seattle Prep entered their tilt with Liberty on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over the Patriots.

Seattle Prep's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Roosevelt took their win against Seattle Prep in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 67-41. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Seattle Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
