The Mattoon Greenwave will square off against the Effingham Hearts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mattoon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Friday, it was close, but Mattoon sidestepped Tolono Unity for an 8-6 win.

Isaiah Warrington and Blaine Howell did most of the damage at the plate: Warrington got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, while Howell went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Howell has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Effingham's hitters rose to the challenge against a North Clay/Clay City pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.6 runs allowed on Thursday. The Hearts put the hurt on North Clay/Clay City with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hearts.

Effingham's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Mattoon, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-5.
