Basketball Recap: Tyler Comes Up Short

Tyler lost against Lufkin back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tyler Lions fell 70-58 to the Lufkin Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Panthers are ranked 43rd).

Tyler's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. As for Lufkin, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tyler Lions challenge the Whitehouse Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lufkin, they will head out to square off against Hallsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lufkin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
