Basketball Game Preview: Geneva Vikings vs. Sycamore Spartans

The Geneva Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Sycamore Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Geneva and nine for Sycamore.

On Tuesday, Geneva ended up a good deal behind St. Charles North and lost 48-32. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the North Stars are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, Sycamore scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morris.

Geneva's loss dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-21.

Geneva didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Sycamore when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Geneva since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
