Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln High vs. Columbus

The Lincoln High Links are taking a road trip to take on the Columbus Discoverers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Lincoln High put up the most goals they have all season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Bryan as they made off with a 4-1 win.

Lincoln High hit the Bears with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Janeli Gonzalez (2), Izel Garcia-Hernandez, and Michelle Cardona-Ramos.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Lincoln North Star a 5-0 shutout on Friday. Considering Columbus have won five matches by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Columbus' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Lincoln High, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season.

Lincoln High might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Columbus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Links avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
