Soccer Game Preview: Rancho Cucamonga vs. Upland

The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars will face off against the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Upland is facing Rancho Cucamonga at the wrong time: Rancho Cucamonga suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 2-1. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Upland entered their tilt with Chino on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cowboys. Given the Highlanders/Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Cowboys are ranked 540th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maddux Lozano and Nicholas Giron scored all three of Upland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Upland's win bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Rancho Cucamonga, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3-1.

Rancho Cucamonga took their victory against Upland when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Will Rancho Cucamonga repeat their success, or does Upland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
