Baseball Recap: El Paso-Gridley Takes a Loss

El Paso-Gridley and Bloomington Central Catholic pushed the score to 16-3 the last time they played Bloomington Central Catholic, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Titans wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Landon Raymer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, El Paso-Gridley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

El Paso-Gridley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-19.

Looking ahead, El Paso-Gridley will square off against Henry-Senachwine at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will head out to square off against East Moline Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
