Baseball Recap: Coral Springs Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It's playoff time, and Coral Springs had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Olympic Heights Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Colts as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Angelo Painter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Zuany, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

Coral Springs' victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Olympic Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-18.

Coming up, Coral Springs will challenge Deerfield Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Olympic Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
