Football Recap: Chopticon Falls Despite Big Games from Jayden Chase and Jaiden Russell

Chopticon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 30-14 bruising from the Leonardtown Raiders. The Braves lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 40-0 score last time.

Chopticon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaiden Russell, who picked up 172 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and Jayden Chase, who threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.

Ryan Shawky had a dynamite game For Leonardtown., rushing for 194 yards and three scores while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Shawky a new career-high.

Chopticon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Leonardtown, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Chopticon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-28 win against La Plata on the 30th. As for Leonardtown, they will venture away from home to challenge Northern at 6:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Patriots' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
