Basketball Recap: Sutton Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Sutton entered their tilt with St. Cecilia on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 54-45 win over the St. Cecilia Bluehawks. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 34-17 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sutton's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for St. Cecilia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sutton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nebraska Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Nebraska Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Sutton likes a good challenge. As for St. Cecilia, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fillmore Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
