            Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Bruins vs. Patrick Henry Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Blacksburg). They put the hurt on the Patrick Henry Patriots with a sharp  10-1 victory on Friday. The Bruins not only won  on Friday, but they posted their biggest win  since May 7, 2024.
 Trick Sams tossed a big game,   pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off   six  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Reese Tysor and  Brice Abbott did most of the damage at the plate:  Tysor  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4, while  Abbott  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and one  stolen base. Tysor is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last four games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Mason Underwood, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.

Blacksburg pushed their record up to 5-1 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  on the road dating back to last season. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.7 runs this season. As for Patrick Henry, they now  have a losing record of 1-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blacksburg will face off against Auburn at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Bruins 3.2, the Eagles 1) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Patrick Henry, they will challenge Fleming at 1:30  p.m.  on Saturday. The Patriots are facing the Colonels at the right time seeing as the Colonels are stuck on  a  four-game losing streak.
