Lake Zurich has gone 8-1-1 against Zion-Benton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will challenge the Zee-Bees at 4:45 p.m. Lake Zurich's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lake Zurich can't be too worried about heading out to take on Zion-Benton: they just beat Stevenson at home, who had been dominant on their own pitch up to that point. The Bears' defense stepped up to hand the Patriots a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lake Zurich's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Stevenson are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Zion-Benton entered their tilt with Waukegan on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bulldogs. That's two games straight that Zion-Benton have won by just one goal.

Zion-Benton's record now sits at 13-3-1. As for Lake Zurich, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.

Lake Zurich came out on top in a nail-biter against Zion-Benton in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
