Baseball Game Preview: Valencia Vikings vs. El Camino Real Royals

The Valencia Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the El Camino Real Royals at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Valencia's tournament run continued when they took on Hueneme on Friday. Valencia put the hurt on Hueneme with a sharp 13-4 win.

Dexton Otton looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Wertz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Davis, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Valencia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, El Camino Real was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Paula on Friday, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

El Camino Real also got a great performance from Christian Gastelum as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Luke Howe was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Valencia now has a winning record of 2-1. As for El Camino Real, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
